Alexandra Daddario has opened up about her infamous nude scene in HBO’s True Detective series.

The Hollywood diva shot to fame after appearing nude in a handcuff scene on the first season of True Detective.

In the scene, Alexandra Daddario’s character, Lisa Tragnetti, receives a pair of handcuffs from Detective Marty Hart, played by Woody Harrelson.

She then cuffs Hart, undresses, and straddles him before reading him his rights.

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Daddario expressed surprise at the overwhelming focus on this particular scene.

She said, “I have a lot of thoughts on this topic, but for example, when True Detective came out and I was naked on the show, and it was huge for my career and the phone was ringing and I got some work off of it.”

Daddario admitted that she wasn’t aware of her ‘sex appeal’ before that infamous moment and was shocked by the reaction it received.

She added, “I think that I hadn’t been that aware of my sex appeal prior to that.”

“I tried not to take it too seriously.”

“I really love acting, in my heart I’m just a theatre nerd, and I sort of took that and said, ‘This is good for my career,’ and embraced it.”

Daddario later expressed that she hoped audiences would recognize her for her acting abilities beyond her physical appearance.

She added, “I really love what I do.”

“I happen to have a lot of fun with getting dressed up and playing roles, and even on red carpets, I’m kind of playing a role.”

“And it’s great, it’s fun, but I think it can be negative, some of the attention, and so I try to ignore some of the more negative aspects of it,” she added.

After True Detective, Daddario’s career soared with roles in major films like San Andreas alongside Dwayne Johnson, the Baywatch movie adaptation with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, and The Layover directed by William H. Macy.

She continued to showcase her versatility in projects such as We Have Always Lived in the Castle and Can You Keep a Secret?
